To make myself feel older, I like to pretend springtime starts with the descent of my birthday. Like, my birthday was the last winter day of the year. Self-centered sounding, I know, but it’s much nicer that way. I get to enjoy my birthday more, something that I often try not to do.
So I was looking through Noah and the Whale’s “The First days of Spring,” and, you know, happened upon this number, something I can call a treasured possession of mine.
Okay, so I’ll always think of this song as Rachel’s, but I absolutely had to put it up, I had to, just because this song has done so much for me than any other remedy has even dreamed to do. She can probably say the same exact thing, I know how terribly she loves this song. I like to feel like it was passed down from her, I don’t know, like some angelic thing where she’s in the sky handing me a star to keep while I’m earthbound.
So, enjoy!
I’m pretty sure I take my friends for granted. I don’t know. They’re all cute and gorgeous and just so fucking amazing. And my family, oh my family. I’ve just never told them how much I care, but hopefully they have some sort of inkling.
Thank you thank you thank you for everybody who made my birthday to be so absolutely wonderful, it all was beautiful, really, everything from a simple text message to full on celebrating it with me right here in San Diego <3
Just kidding. Today’s kiiind of legit.
It started with being scared and unable to sleep due to 3AM superstitions, turning into a curiosity to see how much I can accomplish until I deflate from exhaustion.
Finally, tonight I’ll have a normal sleeping pattern.
1. Wolves
2. People who can crack eggs with one hand
3. Elephants
4. Friendly things translated in Spanish (often found in places that offer limited amounts of text, like the back of a shampoo bottle)
5. Any sort of meatless ravioli
Old song, still pretty.
